Sadly the Queen of Soul died on the 16th August 2018. Aretha had been an icon of American Soul music and an inspiration for women throughout the world.

Leaving an as yet undisclosed fortune potentially £62 million the cry went up as to “where is the will”. Aretha was twice divorced and not married at the time of her death.

Did she write a will? and if so where is it?

Writing a will is essential however secure and identifiable will storage is key. Having spent so many years working long hours and travelling extensively Aretha’s potential  wishes to remember important people in her life with a gift, donations to a charity  for young artists or financial support for an elderly relative will not be made.

Aretha died in Michigan where if a person dies without a will (intestate) there is a strict line of inheritance. Perhaps Aretha wrote a will and kept it at home? Was it damaged, lost, destroyed by mistake or intentionally? It is so important to store your will away from the home and in a safe and easily accessible location.

We offer secure will storage. All wills stored are registered with  a nationwide will storage database accessible from anywhere in the world. So if you can’t remember where your will is stored, lose your will storage certificate or your executors can’t find your will a simple internet search will direct them. A will is only released to an executor on production of a death certificate and copy of their ID.
